Summary:

The Sr. Data Modeler – Data Warehouse is responsible for defining, developing, and maintaining the data models pertaining to the enterprise data warehouse architecture and its implementation. The Sr. Data Architect – Data Warehouse specializes in the data aspects of architecture and will provide value in the development and delivery of models and meta data to support the data warehouse and business intelligence environment of the enterprise. 

The Sr. Data Architect – Data Warehouse serves as a liaison with IT and Business concerning data warehouse architecture issues for business intelligence systems, and interacts with other members of architecture and teams to facilitate the assessment and continuous improvement of the enterprise data and information resources across the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform data analysis and data modeling (subject area, logical, physical) for data warehouse and BI solutions
  • Collaborate with development and business teams to understand requirements and define source system data flows 
  • Develop and maintain ETL specifications for data integration development
  • Define and deliver consistent data modeling and data architecture standards, methodologies, guidelines and techniques 
  • Document, implement and maintain the data warehouse data architecture and related business processes 
  • Serve as source of knowledge of data warehouse data architecture industry practices and processes.
  • Participate in the development of enterprise standards and guidelines for data model quality and accuracy to support information management
  • Audit project level data model quality deliverables to ensure that practices and standards are met 
  • Ensure data integrity, consolidation, consistency and meta data development in conjunction with data architecture and information architecture professionals
  • Analyze information and data requirements and understand effects of data inconsistencies 
  • Participate in the development of enterprise data model and data architecture strategy for the organization
  • Define and follow best engineering practices to develop, test and automatically deploy database objects to all environments
  • Identify inefficiencies in current architecture and processes and communicate solutions in a manner that gets support from the teams involved
  • Diagnose and resolve issues throughout data warehouse environment – security, data issues
  • Perform cost and sizing estimates for projects 
  • Collaborate with the product owner and the rest of the agile team to identify epics, stories and estimate effort 
  • Create and maintain data dictionary documents, table and data lineage models and produce artifacts to support project development and communicate project information to customers

Qualifications:

 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in the field of computer science, information systems, or computer engineering and/or 8+ years of equivalent work experience
  • 5 + years of experience in a combination of data management and enterprise data warehouse data modeling and architecture roles 
  • 5 +  years of experience data modeling – logical, physical, relational and dimensional with a major data modeling tool suite 
  • Significant experience with hands on data analysis and related tools, including strong SQL 
  • Working technical knowledge of Oracle DBMS
  • Experience with implementing enterprise data warehouse and BI programs and solutions
  • Experience with meta data management development and implementation, including business definition development and refinement, documentation and storage 
  • Significant experience in data requirements gathering and analysis
  • Understanding of enterprise data management concepts and best practices 

Preferred:

  • Appropriate industry certifications, including CDMP or CBIP with a data management or data modeling specialization 
  • Experience with related information management techniques (e.g. data quality management, metadata management, data governance)   
  • Experience with big data and Hadoop   
  • Experience with Data Stage or other ETL tools 
  • Familiarity with BI tools including Tableau, Microsoft SSRS 
  • Good knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws 
  • Experience with database design applications, including SQL Developer, Visual Studio, ERStudio Data Architect, Visio and others
