The Role

As the Sr. Analyst, Data Steward, you will provide subject matter expertise and direction on complex projects/initiatives for assigned area(s) of responsibility.  You will serve as a mentor to the Data Governance team and provide guidance and direction on all data governance activities.  You will also serve as the point of contact for data governance activities including the communication of Data Governance Council decisions.

Responsibilities

Data Governance

  • Liaise between business leads, subject matter experts, and IT project leads to implement and maintain a high quality Data Governance program
  • Improves the quality and reliability of enterprise data through discovery and process improvement
  • Manages, designs, and develops data definition, production, usage, classification, and compliance rules across the enterprise
  • Identifies, initiates, and develops processes/projects to implement the Data Governance vision and framework while remaining aligned with overall business objectives
  • Designs and maintains data governance scorecards to support Data Governance Council discussions and decision making
  • Collaborates with data owners and data custodians to identify and resolve complex data governance issues in a timely and collaborative manner
  • Facilitates resolutions of data definition, production, and usage issues across multiple business units
  • Leads the community of data users and analysts, manages meetings and agendas, facilitates workshops, and provides communication of issues
  • Serves as a resource to internal stakeholders on complex Data Governance solutions which optimize client requirements and achieve desired business results
  • Escalates highly complex issues to management/Data Governance Council when necessary

  • Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends, assess the impact, and collaborates with senior management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future solutions
  • Directs and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives
  • Identifies and directs the implementation of process improvements that significantly improve quality across the team, department and/or business unit
  • Provides subject matter expertise to team members and applicable internal/external stakeholders on complex assignments/projects
  • Provides direction on complex assignments, projects, and/or initiatives to build and enhance the capability of assigned area(s) of responsibility
  • Remains current in profession and industry trends

Requirements

Education

  • 4 Year/Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelors)

Experience

  • 5 – 7+ Years of experience in the financial/retirement industry that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities of this position
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret both internal and external documents such as general media/publications, professional journals, technical procedures, governmental regulations, policies, proposals, and standard operating procedures
  • Confident, comfortable communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills with demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of management through clear, informed and logical discussions/presentations
  • Apply concepts such as probability, statistics, modeling, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions
  • Works with mathematical concepts such as averages and/or variances
  • Ability to analyze complex information and to evaluate the implications of a course of action or solution
  • Ability to interpret and apply common sense understanding to carry out a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
