Candidate has deep experience and knowledge in one or more Life Sciences / Pharmaceutical Industry business functions. A tactical thinker with a passion for data and its importance to an insight-drive enterprise. Is able to understand the immediate applicability, use and value of various types of data and information to specific business functions, while at the same time understanding the impact and interdependencies across business functions. Is able to effectively synthesize "what if" scenarios into business value and impact within and across functions and is comfortable being the "go to" person for interpretation and decisions for all things data. Understands and is able to apply data governance and data quality policies, procedures, and standards using logic and rationale; able to work independently and proactively drive to outcome. Possesses superior written and verbal communication skills, leadership, influence and negotiation skills.

 

Overall responsibilities include: 
  • Draft, implement and execute governance policies, procedures, and processes with a cross-function/enterprise view 
  • Assist in the facilitation and serve as an escalation point for local data governance regarding data quality, or related data policies, processes, and standards issues, questions, and opportunities 
  • Accountable for and has decision-making rights over the analysis, interpretation, and application of policies, processes, standards that govern the quality, definition, use, access, and lifecycle (internal, external) of (IKU) information assets and data; is considered the Subject Matter Expert for IKU metadata and data sets 
  • Independently resolves or coordinates with Data Set/Study/Partnership leads and Franchise Data Stewards to resolve IKU data issues ensuring Synapse Explorer and Synapse Analyzer is fit for use and optimized to obtain the highest possible value 
  • Applies data policies, processes, standards to day to day IKU data issues, questions, and opportunities (including taxonomies) and understand impact at both local and enterprise levels 
  • Contributes to the development of policy, process, and standards that govern the quality, definition, use, access, and lifecycle (internal, external) of the (IKU) information 
  • Conducts periodic IKU metadata quality audits to ensure IKU data assets meet required standards; independently resolves or escalates issues as appropriate 
  • Coordinates across domain Data Governance Councils, data, partnership, and analyses leads to update portal assets as appropriate 
  • Ensures alignment with Data Governance Councils, Local/Functionally aligned Data Stewards, Business Leadership/SME's, IT Leadership through transparent and frequent communications.

     

    Qualifications

     

    B.S. in business or science major 7+ years experience in biopharma
